Learning Disabilities Help for Your Child
August 29th, 2016Learning disabilities and ADHD impact between 15% to 20% of the population. That is 9 to 16 people on a street with 20 homes. According to the CDC, less that 1 in 3 children with ADHD receives both medication and behavioral therapy. Additionally, students with learning disabilities earn lower grades and experience higher rates of course failure. (According to The State of Learning Disabilities 3rd Edition, 2014, LD.org)
US National Statistics show that 70% of students are not performing as they should be in reading, writing, spelling, and math. This alarming fact gives me pause. What can we do as parents to change this? There must me something we can do!

Educational Problems Caused by Learning Disabilities or Dyslexia
- May have neurological gaps
- Poor auditory memory can occur
- Poor visual memory can occur
- Difficulty with concentration
- Difficulty following multi-step directions
- Poorly executed assignments
- They have missed out on instruction because their vision system, auditory system, or tactile/kinesthetic system were ‘overloaded’
- Given a list of things to do, they don’t get the whole list done
