What is Dyslexia?
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, dyslexia is a brain-based type of learning disability that specifically impairs a person’s ability to read. These individuals typically read at levels significantly lower than expected despite having normal intelligence.
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurological in origin.
That is the ‘clinical’ definition. But you know as well as I do that when your child has dyslexia or you suspect they do, life is hard. School is hard. Learning is hard. And sometimes your kids don’t even want to go to school. I have had students that grabbed onto the doorway saying, “Please, can’t I just stay home.” And you often lose sleep. You worry. Will it ever get easier? Will they be able to graduate? Will they be able to support themselves? This is the reality of dyslexia. It can even feel crippling at times. There is some good news though…there are solutions to improving those reading skills and writing skills. Learning doesn’t HAVE to be so hard! There are dyslexia programs that do work!

The typical daily time involved is about 20 minutes a day. You receive a weekly calendar that tells you exactly what to do in those 20 minutes each and every day.
